TATM37 | Fourier Analysis, ECTS-points /FOURIERANALYS/ Advancement level: D
Aim: The course is intended for students in Y4, but it is also suitable for reasearch students in mathematics and other subjects. Fourier analysis has many important applications in technology and the natural sciences, and the growth in the number of its areas of applications is increasing rapidly. The intention is to give a selection of areas which are interesting both for applied mathematicians and those who intend to start, or have already started, more advanced studies in some mathematical subject. Prerequisites: Mathematics such as is given in courses in analytic function theory, transform theory and functional analysis.Course organization: Teaching is done in seminar form, and can, if necessary, be given in English.Course content: Examples of topics: Distributions and Fourier analysis. The connection between the theory of analytic functions and Fourier analysis. Hilbert transforms. Frames and wavelets.Course literature: Neymark, M: Transformteori. Mathematical Institute. Kaiser, G: A Friendly Guide to wavelets. Birkhäuser, Basel, 1994.
