NFYA32 | Electromagnetic Fields, 5 ECTS-points /ELEKTROMAGNETISKA FÄLT/ Advancement level: A | |
Aim: The course aims to give an introduction to the field of electromagnetics necessary for further studies in physics.Prerequisites: Attended 40 p in MathematicsCourse organization: The content of the course is presented at lectures and problems will be solved which demands the use and the understanding of the theory. Several laborations are included in the course. e introduced at special lectures. Physical seminars are also included (see NFYA56)Course content: Electrostatics: Electric Field Intensity, Coulomb's law, Potential, Gauss's law, Poisson's and Laplace's Equations, Capacitance, Dielectrics, Electric Dipole, Polarisation, Electrostatic Energy. Magnetostatics: Magnetic Flux Density, Biot-Savart law, Ampere's Circuital law, Vector Magnetic Potential, Magnetic Materials, Magnetic Circuits, Magnetic Dipole, Magnetisation, Magnetostatic. Time-Varying Electromagnetic Fields: Induction, Faraday's law, Inductance, Electromotive Force. The different parts of the course are presented as specific applications of Maxwell's equations.
