Aim:
In theory and in practice acquire basic knowledge and skills in genetical workmethodology as well as statistical methods for use within the working field of biology.

Prerequisites:
General Chemistry 1, 2 and 3 (NKEA 11, 12 and 13).

Course organization:
Lectures, laboratory work, group work, calcultion excercices and seminars

Course content:
Genetical basic notions. Mechanisms for mitos- and meios - cel and lifecycles. Molecular basics for "down"inheritance. The structure and function of chromosomes. Recombinations, Populations as genetical systems. "Prokaryot" genetics including transferring mechanisms for DNA, mobile genetical elements as well as plasmidbiology. Molecular biological applications of genetechnique within eg. plant and animalimprovement, medicine and biotechmique. Basic statistical methods.
