Entrance Requirements for programmes given in English

  1. Minimum admission requirements for the master's programmes include a Bachelor's degree (a Swedish kandidatexamen) or equivalent from an internationally recognized university. The university has to be listed in the latest edition of the International Handbook of Universities.

    * A bachelor's degree awarded in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh or Nepal must in most cases be of four years or followed by a master's degree to meet the admission requirements.

    * Applicants who do not hold the required degree are eligible provided they can show that they are registered for the last semester of a programme leading to such a degree. An official document stating that they are likely to be awarded the degree by the start of the programme must be sent in with the application. The degree certificate has to be presentetby Oct 15.

  2. Language requirements:
Applicants must have documented skills in English corresponding to the level of English in Swedish upper secondary education (English B). For applicants who have not studied in Swedish upper secondary education, skills in English are normally attested by means of an international language test, such as:
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) - Paper-based score of 4.5 (scale 1-6) in the written test with a total score of 575 and Internet-based score of 20 (scale 0-30) in the written test with a total score of 90. NB! TOEFL Examinee Score Records are not accepted. All TOEFL tests must be sent straight from Educational Testing Service (ETS).
    • International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) - Acandemic modules, an overall mark of 6,5 and no section below 5,5.
    • Cambridge ESOL Certificate of Proficiency in English/CPE or Certificate in Advanced English/CAE.

The following applicants do not have to submit the results of a language test
    • Students holding a bachelor's degree from a university with English as the only language of instruction, according to the latest edition of International Handbook of Universities.
    • Students holding a bachelor's degree (a Swedish Kandidatexamen) or equivalent academic qualifications with English as the major subject.
    • Students holding a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science or Technology, awarded in India or Pakistan.
    • Students with 30 credits from a Nordic country and the language of instruction of the course/programme/university is English.

  3. Specific requirements

In addition to the general requirements, the applicant must also meet the specific requirements that apply to the different programmes, see below. The specific requirements may be assessed as not fulfilled if

    • the average grade is in the lower third of the grading scale used in the country where the degree was awarded (i.e. grades have to be average/pass level or above, the equivalent to the Swedish grade "Godkänd")
