2007 MANUFACTURING MANAGEMENT
Aim In recognition of the need for a new generation of manufacturing managers, the Linköping Institute of Technology has identified a competitive edge in the intersection between Technology and Operations Management. The state-of-the-art programme in Manufacturing Management is a dedicated effort to offer a unique and sought-after engineering competence in this challenging area. The aim of the programme is to educate the manufacturing managers of tomorrow, and to prepare them for the changing demands around the globe. The programme is aimed at those who wish to pursue a career in manufacturing management and who would like to be involved in international aspects of manufacturing.
Composition of the Programme The programme consists o one year (two semesters) of course work and a Maser's thesis (one semester), and starts in August/september each year.
The Content of the Programme The courses offered in the programme are logically grouped into four concentrations or themes:
In the Product and Process Technology theme emphasizes the understanding of the manufacturing processes, quality management and product development. The Operations Management theme focuses on the strategies, methods and terminology used in the active management of the operations and the interconnections among products, processes and management. The General Management theme gives an overview of managerial considerations related to manufacturing management. The last theme is devoted to Manufacturing Simulation, where the applications require the full utilization of the acquired knowledge from the other three themes. The ambition is not restricted to merely illustrating the former areas, but also to provide an indepth skill in computer simulation methodology, including the modeling, design of experiments and statistical output analysis. Minor changes in the programme may be introduced between years.
