TSTE80 Analog and Discrete-Time Integrated Circuits, 3 p (sw)
/Analoga och tidsdiskreta integrerade kretsar/

Advancement level:
D

Aim:
The purpose is to give basic knowledge in analysis and design of analog and discrete-time integrated circuits, mainly integrated in CMOS technology, that primarily are intended to be used in analog as well as digital systems for signal processing. Furthermore the intention is to give understandings for the importance and the need of CAD: different computer-aided analysis and synthesis methods and design of circuit layout.

Prerequisites:
TSDT 71 Circuit Theory and TSTE 83 (or TSTE 15) Analog circuits.

Course organization:
The course is organized in lectures, lessons, and group exercises.

Course content:
Introduction to CMOS technology: Integrated circuit components, such as PMOS and NMOS transistors, capacitors, switches, current sources, one-stage amplifiers, current mirrors, inverters. High-performance CMOS building blocks: comparators, operational amplifiers, and operational transconductance amplifiers. Feedback and stability. Integrated active RC-filters: Design issues. Integrated switched-capacitor filters: charge-redistribution, error sources, switches, transfer functions. LDI and bilinear transform. Data converters: Integrated analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters.

Course literature:
Compendia: Aktiva RC-filter och SC-filter, Exempelsamling, Formelsamling i aktiva och tidsdiskreta filter. D.A. Johns and K. Martin: Analog Integrated Circuit Design

The examination consists of one written exam as well as one written project report. The projekt is a conclusion of the student's own work with circuit design and simulation in the Spice language.

Course language is swedish and english.
