TSIT65 | Signal Theory , 3 p (sw) /Signalteori / Advancement level: C | |
Aim: The purpose with the course is to give basic knowledge in contnuous-time and discrete-time signal processing for deterministic as well as stochastic signals.Prerequisites: TSDT 69 Circuit theory, TAMS 15 or 16 Mathematical Statistics, first course.Course organization: The course consists of lectures, lessons and laboratory work.Course content: System and signal models. Basic problems and mathematical models, deterministic and stochastic signals. Description of stochastic signals: distribution and density function, mean value, autocorrelation function, spectral density, stationarity, ergodicity. Linear filtering of continuous-time and discrete-time stochastic signals: mean values and spectral density, gaussian signals, white noise, matched filter. Nonlinear filtering: gaussian signals, effects on bandwidth, applications within modulation, quantization. Sampling and reconstruction, sampling theorem, pulse modulation, reconstruction errors. DFT, discrete fourier transform: resolution, windowing, cyclic convolution, comparison with other transforms. Estimation: estimation of mean value, autcorrelation function and spectral density.
