| Aim: The course will give the students basic theoretical and practical knowledge in mobile communication systems.Prerequisites: TNDE52 Telecommunication, TNDE59 Signal ProcessingCourse organization: Lectures, group seminars, project work.Course content: Overview of radio communication: the frequency spectrum and its properties, frequency bands. Signal propagation and antennas. Modulation schemes. Speech and channel coding techniques.Multiple access methods. Cellular systems components and architectures. The GSM system: teminology and protocols, channel assignment, cell planning, frequency allocation, handover. Current wireless LAN standards and technologies. New technologies and future trends. | ||
