Aim: Electricity used as a power source and information carrier is a prerequisite for our modern society. The course gives basic knowledge in electric circuit theory and electronics, stimulating thinking for new designs. The contents of the course are modeled to meet problems connected to the mechanical engineering area.Prerequisites: Calculus, algebra and transform methods, basic electrical circuits and measurements.Course organization: Lectures, exercises and laboratory work. Part of the theoretical contents is given in connection with the laboratory work.Course content: Calculations on DC circuits: Mesh and node analysis. Superposition and Theveninīs theorem. Power. Calculations on AC circuits: Phasor diagrams, complex method. Power. Magnetism. Force. Analog circuits: Rectifiers. Field effect transistors. Amplifiers. Operational amplifiers. dB. Basic digital circuits: Number systems and codes. Boolean algebra, logic circuits, MSI circuits. Sequential circuits. Memories. A/D and D/A converters.
