Aim: The purpose of the course is to provide the student with basic knowledge of how to model and analyze the motion of an airplane, particularly with regard to stability characteristics.Prerequisites: Analysis, Algebra, Mechanics, Aviation, Aerodynamics, Automatic Control.Course organization: Teaching is in the form of lectures, classes and computer exercises.Course content: Aerodynamic forces, static stability, three dimensional rigid body dynamics, equations of motion of an airplane and their linearization, longitudinal and laterial modes, dynamic stability, autopilots.Course literature: Nelson, R.C.: Flight Stability and Automatic Control, McGraw-Hill, 2nd ed. 1998 |
