| Aim: The course aims to develop and improve students' skills in and knowledge of the French language, with the focus on economic and technical language. It will also give the student a general view of the culture and social structure of the French-speaking countries with an emphasis on the conditions of industry and commerce. The student should practise a contrastive analysis of language and content with a view to being able to study as well as represent a Swedish company in French-speaking countries. Course organization: The course consists of lectures, classes, group tuition (pronunciation, oral proficiency), seminars, oral and written reports. The course is run in periods 3 and 4. Course content: Review and in-depth studies of syntax and word-formation. (Grammar II) Linguistic analysis of technical texts. Reading of a few works of fiction, cultural history, and knowledge of current public debate. Exercises in free writing (letters, applications) and translation into and from French.
