| Aim: The course aims to strengthen and develop students' basic skills in and knowledge of the French language before they go on to the technical language provide them with a deeper knowledge of French-speaking countries. Prerequisites: French as a second foreign language or equivalent. Course organization: The course consists of lectures, classes, group tuition (pronunciation, oral proficiency), seminars, oral and written reports. Course content: Review and in-depth studies of accidence, word- formation, and basic syntactic structures. (Grammar I) A systematic study of French phonetics and prosody with exercises. (Pronunciation theory) Reading of texts with the focus on vocabulary, basic and general as well as economic and technical. At least one short work of fiction to be read. Introduction into the geography, demography, and industry of French-speaking countries. Course literature: To be determined later. | ||
