Aim: To give basic knowledge in modern microwave technology and in the design of receivers and transmitters for microwave frequencies. This knowledge is of central importance today for wireless communication and radar sensors.Course organization: Lectures, tutorials and laboratory exercisesCourse content: The course starts with an introduction to the applications of microwave technology and the demands on the technology. The core of the course is methods for the analysis and synthesis of transmission lines and mictrowave circuits, based on scattering parameters, reflection coefficients and Smith charts. Further is microwave devices, as passive devices, resonant circuits, filters, amplifiers, mixers and oscillators, and modern implementation techniques described. Finally are simple microwave subsystems as receiver front ends and transmitters treated. Course literature: Not decided |
