TFMT06 | Contemporary Sensor Systems, 3 p (sw) /Moderna sensorsystem/ Advancement level: D | |
Aim: To provide an insight in the function and design of a modern measurement system including various aspects ranging from the sensor principle to the application. Prerequisites: Basic courses in physics and electronics.Supplementary courses: TFMT02 Computers in measurements, TFMT03 Sensor technologyCourse organization: Lectures and laboratory work on the various principles of the instrument and on applications. A number of guest lecturers are invited to present special topics. Visits to a research laboratory and to an electronic nose company are also included. The course is given in English if students from abroad are attending.Course content: A measurement system is studied in detail from sensor principle to application. The system is chosen from the current research at the department and may e. g. be the "electronic nose" and the "electronic tongue" or biosensor systems based on surface plasmon resonance or other optical principles. As an introduction a short and brief overview of measurement technology, with emphasis on odor measurements, is given. The measurement system is then studied with respect to physical sensor device principle, the sensor device, design of the system, read-out electronics, amplifiers, signal processing, linearization, filtering, data aquisition, noise, data presentation, sample handling, multisensing, applications.Course literature: Lecture notes, book chapters, articles, distributed during the course |
