| Aim: To give knowledge about physical principles behind sensors and thus understanding of properties and limitations. Overview of sensors for measuring quantities of interest in industry and research.Prerequisites: Basic courses in physics, mathematics and electronics.Supplementary courses: TFMT06 Contemporary Sensor Systems, TFMT02 Computers in MeasurementsCourse organization: Lectures and experiments.Course content: Classification of sensors, sensor characteristica. Utilization of electrical, magnetical, mechanical, acoustical, thermal and optical phenomena and combinations of these. Dynamical models of sensors. Signal conditioning: amplifiers, transmitters, A/D conversion, data transmission, noise.
