| Aim: The student shall aquire an understanding of how the environmental impact of a new product can be decreased by choice of material, manufacturing process and product design. A system oriented approach is applied in the analysis. Further, the student shall have gained experience from using tools for Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) and Design for the Environment.Supplementary courses: Environmentally conscious manufacturing of electronics.Course organization: The teaching is performed as lectures and project assigments.Course content: The course treats the following: The importance of Design for the Environment. System oriented view for analysis of environmental impact, introduction to LCA, data collection and treatment in an LCA, and evaluation of results. Methods, tools, and practices for Design for the Environment. An overview is given of Environmental valuation of basic materials and organic substances. Recycling and waste issues are discussed briefly. Course literature: To be announced later. | ||
