TFKI25 | Chemical Reaction Engineering, 5 p (sw) /Kemisk reaktionsteknik/ Advancement level: B
Aim: The course covers the theory of chemical reactors as applicable to industrial processes. Emphasis is placed on design calculations. An important component of the course is the laboratory work, which reinforces the lecture material as well as requiring planning, researching and technical communication skills.Prerequisites: TAIU10 Calculus, B.SC. course, TAIUxx Algebra, TFKI 77 Physical ChemistryCourse organization: Lectures, tutorials and laboratory workCourse content: Material and energy balances, reaction kinetics, ideal reactors, complex reactions, industrial reactor examples. Modelling with Matlab. Project laboratory involving literature study, research planning and report writing.Course literature: Fogler, H.S., Elements of Chemical Reaction Engineering Course home page: http://www.ifm.liu.se/~lawrence/reactioneng/
The oral and written components of the project will be graded out of 100 (75% weighting for the written report and 25% for the oral presentation), as will the written exam. These two marks will be combined in the weighting 2/5, 3/5, respectively, to obtain the final grade for the course. |
