TFFY34 | Semiconductor Technology, 3 p (sw) /Halvledarteknik/ Advancement level: C | |
Aim: The aim of this course is to make the student aware of the fundamental physical principles of semiconductor devices, and how modeling of devices is done. The participants of the course obtain the basic understanding, which is required for working with integrated circuits and optoelectronics. Supplementary courses: TFFY96 Solid State Electronics.Course organization: 15 seminars, 5 tutorials and 12 hours laboratory exercises.Course content: Basic semiconductor physics. Operation and modeling of pn-junctions, optoelectronic devices, bipolar transistors, field-effect transistors, and integrated circuits. An overview of processing of semiconductor devices and integrated circuits is given.Course literature: Main textbook (aligned to lecture notes): Ben G. Streetman and Sanjay Banerjee, "Solid State Electronic Devices", 5th ed., Prentice-Hall International Editions, ISBN 0-13-025538-6, 2000. As substitute for the main textbook the following textbook can be recommended: H. Craig Casey, jr., "Devices for Integrated Circuits", John Wiley & Sons, Inc., ISBN 0-471-17134-4, 1999. |
