Aim: The student will deepen and develop his/her knowledge in the Japanese language, particularly the technical and economic language. Furthermore, a current perspective on the Japanese culture, politics and public life with emphasis on the structure of Japanese business-life. Exercises in language and content analyses to enable study of and representation of a Swedish firm in Japan.Course organization: The course contains lectures, excercises in small groups (pronunciation, oral presentations), seminars, oral and written work.Course content: Systematic review of phonetics, pronunciation and conversation, mainly in economic and technical subjects. Text and vocabulary studies and conversation exercises. Technical vocabulary. In-depth studies of the history of Japan, religion, culture, constitution, current political debate, trade policy, economy and the industrial profile, technology development, organisation and function of Japanese companies, production philosophy and business culture.Course literature: Will be advised later. |
