TEIE80 | International Commercial and Business Law, 2,5 p (sw) /Internationell affärsrätt/ Advancement level: B
Aim: The course aims to impart good knowledge about the legal matters which arise in connection with international business transactions. It also aims to give students the tools with which to solve the most common problems of this type.Prerequisites: This course is to be seen as an introduction to international commercial and business law or as a chosen addition to Law I (TEIE 94). In the latter case studies start after approx. three lectures which are intended as an introduction for those who have not studied any law previously.Course organization: Teaching is carried out in the form of lectures and large seminars. The lectures are based on course literature and tackle first and foremost the basic rules needed to give students the necessary structure to the subject. The large seminars provide training in how to find out which the applicable laws are and how to identify legal matters within international business law in a complex society.Course content: The course starts off with a run through of basic Swedish business law as an introduction to the system under which international business law comes. The main part of the course takes up the legal questions in connection with export and import of goods based on international law and international conventions. Focus is put on the suppliers and buyers respective obligations. Attention is given to the particular problems involved with the sometimes vast distance between parties, namely cross border transportation, insurance and payment arrangements. Finally we look at the rules for solving commercial disputes in an international environment.Course literature: Due to the greatly changing world of international business law, course literature is determined shortly before the start of the course.Assessment:
