Aim: To teach students the principles of complex analysis and its applications in physics and technology. Prerequisites: TATM72 Calculus A or NMAA13 Mathematical analysis I ,TATM73 Calculus B or NMAB13 Mathematical analysis II , TATM 18 Linear Algebra or NMAA12 Linear algebra (or equivalent courses). Course organization: Lectures and problem classes.Course content: Complex numbers. The concept of an analytic function. Elementary analytic functions. Complex line integrals. Convergence. Functional series. Taylor and Laurent series. The calculus of residues. The argument principle. Conformal mappings defined by analystic functions. Analytic continuation. Applications: The Z-transform and an introduction to the one-sided Laplace transform. Course literature: Wunsch, D: Complex Variables with Applications. 2nd ed. |
