Aim: To cover the following fundamental fields of chemistry: Basic notions and definitions. Writing chemical equations and stoichometry. Electronic structure of atoms and periodicity of the elements. Chemical bonding. Quantitative analysis. Inorganic chemistry. General laboratory techniques. Prerequisites: 3rd year mathematics, physics N,T (or equivalent). Course organization: Theoretical aspects are daily presented in lectures. Problem solving is trained in lessons. Laboratory work illustrates the practical aspects of chemistry.
