NFYA32 | Electromagnetic Fields, 5 p (sw) /ELEKTROMAGNETISKA FÄLT/ Advancement level: A | |
Aim: The course aims to give an introduction to the field of electromagnetics necessary for further studies in physics.Prerequisites: Attended 40 p in MathematicsSupplementary courses: NFYD70 Calssical Electrodynamics TFYY03 Antenna TheoryCourse organization: The content of the course is presented at lectures and problems will be solved which demands the use and the understanding of the theory. Several laborations are included in the course. These are introduced at special lectures. Physical seminars are also included (see NFYA56)Course content: Electrostatics: Electric Field Intensity, Coulomb's law, Potential, Gauss's law, Poisson's and Laplace's Equations, Capacitance, Dielectrics, Electrics Dipole, Polarisation. Magnetostatics: Magnetic Flux Density, Biot-Savart law, Ampere's Circuital law, Vector Magnetic Potential, Magnetic Dipole, Magnetisation, Magnetic Materials, Magnetic Circuits. Time-Varying Electromagnetic Fields: Induction, Faraday's law, Inductance. Alternating-currents. The different parts of the course are presented as specific applications of Maxwell's equations.Course literature: Lars Engström : Elektromagnetisk fältteori or David Cheng: Field and Electromagnetics |
