Aim: The aim is to provide a perspective based on theory of science and a conscious approach to different branches and models of science.Prerequisites: Parts of the content of TTIT 26 (regarding theory of science) and a good basis in mathematics from previous courses.Course content: The course involves some fundamental issues within the theory of science with insights in the history of physics and mathematics, but with a special connection to the considerable shift that the development of modern physics inititated. The most central issues involves hypothesis testing, scientific laws, explanations and relationship between model and real world. Some of the important scientific ideals are also treated, for example, instrumentalism, inductivism, falsificationism and Kuhn's paradigm theory. The examination involves linguistic proofing of a written summary assignment.Course literature: Pending. | ||
