TSEI66 Filters, 4,5 ECTS-points
/Filter/

Advancement level:
C

Aim:
The main topics in the course are: -analog filter theory -realisation with passive LC-filter -realisation with active RC-filter -discrete-time and digital filters

Prerequisites:
TSEI 47 Circuit Theory and TSEI 50 Linear Systems

Course content:
Basic terminology; transfer function, magnitude function, phase, group delay, step and impulse response, poles and zeros. Signals and models, specification of filters, approximation theory, frequency transformations. Passive LC-filters; doubly resistive terminated LC-filters, filter structures, LP-HP, LP-BP, LP-BS transformations, all-pass filters. Active RC-filters: second-order sections, realisation in cascade form, immitance simulations and topological simulations of LC-filters. Discrete-time and digital signals and systems, the sampling theorem, z-transform, transfer function, decimation and interpolation of the sampling frequency. Design of discrete-time and digital filters; FIR-filters with linear phase, design of IIR-filters with analog reference filters, wave digital filters, and SC-filters.
