Aim:
To give basic knowledge in information transmission and transmission system used.

Prerequisites:
TAIU 21 Calculus TSEI 47 Circuit Theory

Course organization:
The course contains lectures, lessons and laboratory work.

Course content:
Basic concepts: signals, noise and quality measures. Analogue modulation: amplitude modulation, frequency and phase modulation, quality, applications. Digital communication: pulse modulation (PCM, delta modulation), digital modulation (ASK, FSK, PSK etc.), optimum receivers, probability of error, coding. Network communications. Transmission lines: telegraphy equation, types of media, characteristics, resonance effects, Smith-chart. Antennas. Fibre optics.
