TNK003 | System Analysis and Decision Theory, 4,5 ECTS-points /Systemanalys och beslutsteori/ Advancement level: B
Aim: The course aims to give the students a basic knowledge in systems analysis and decision theory. By system, we mean a combination of components that together constitutes a complex structure, e.g. a complex communication system. The student should realize how systems analysis can be used to describe and analyze the fundamental parts and the links within the system. In many cases there is a need to more thoroughly analyze the complex system. Decision theory can be used to identify different decision problems, to analyze the robustness of the system and the uncertainty in the data and finally, to choose an appropriate modeling procedure. Prerequisites: -Course organization: The course consists of lectures, seminars and group exercises. Course content: The course consists of two parts: - Systems analyses, including analyses of complex systems, systems thinking, uncertainty, short term and long term decisions. - Decision theory, including decisions under risk and uncertainty, availability of information, decision trees, utility, an introduction to quantitative modeling, simulation and game theory. Course literature: To be announced.
