Aim:
The course gives the fundamentals of mechanical vibrations. The emphasis in this course is on the understanding of the physical phenomena involved in mechanical vibrations rather than the mathematical treatment of vibration theory.

Prerequisites:
TMKT 06 Machine Elements and TMME 02 Mechanics

Supplementary courses:
TMME40 Vibration Analysis of Structures

Course organization:
Lectures, excercises and laboratory work.

Course content:
Simple systems of 1 and 2 degrees of freedom (DoF) up to a general theory for multiple DoF. Vibrations of beams and rotor dynamics. Various types of excitation mechanisms are discussed.
