TMHL41 Continuum Mechanics, 6 ECTS-points
/Kontinuumsmekanik/

Advancement level:
D

Aim:
In continuum mechanics one studies the mechanical behaviour of a continuous medium. The concept of continuum mechanics therefore contains fluid as well as solid mechanics. Frequently, one gives the concept of continuum mechanics a more limited meaning, namely the part of fluid and solid mechanics in which fundamental concepts and definitions are established and studied for later use within applied fluid and solid mechanics. The aim of the course follows this definition, and we limit ourselves to mainly the solid mechanics part.

Prerequisites:
Solid Mechanics, basic course. Solid Mechanics, the Finite Element Method. Mechanics of Light Structures (or corresponding).
