Aim: The aim of this course is to give a thorough understanding of basic concepts and definitions in Solid Mechanics. The student should be able to make use of simple sizing rules useful in basic engineering work and have a basis for further studies of the subject.Prerequisites: TATM 61, TATM 31, TMME 02Course organization: The course is given during period 3. It consists of a theoretical part and laboratory work.Course content: The course gives an introduction to solid mechanics. It discusses basic concepts and definitions, simple homogeneous stress states, deflections and stresses in beams torques applied to shafts, stability of axially loaded columns, Hooke's generalised law, multidimensional stress and deformation analysis and yield criteria.Course literature: T Dahlberg: Teknisk hållfasthetslära, Studentlitteratur, 1997.
