To give students basic knowledge on how to design and to use DSP processors.

CPU basics, basics of digital logic design, basics of DSP algorithms.

Course content:
General Purpose DSP processors, ASIC DSP Processors, Difference between CPU and DSP. Numeric representation for DSP and its HW, Data path design. Memory architecture, bus, and DSP Modulo Addressing. Instruction set design, Performance analysis, and evaluation of DSP processors. Control path design, Infinite loop based flow, interrupt, stack. Scheduling, pipeline, branch, and DSP superscaling technique. Peripheral: SPI, I2C, SCI. Compiler, linker, simulator and other development environment.
