Aim:
The objective of the course is comprehension of life cycle assessment (LCA) and ecodesign. With the aid of an LCA, a products impact on the environment can be analysed. The student will get understanding of the potential possibilities and limitations of an LCA through both theoretical and practical work. Environmental adaption of products via carefull choises of manufacturing processes, materials and well thought out designs is the main goal of the course.

Prerequisites:
Environmental Science and Environmental Technology wished but not compulsory.

TFMJ 04 Environmental Measurement Technology, TFMJ 05 Environmentally Sustainable Materials TFMJ 06 Environmental Management Strategies, TFMJ 08 Environmental Impact Assessment.

Course organization:
The course includes lectures, laboratory work and assignments.

Course content:
Construction of an LCA structure. Methods for collection and handling of data and assessment of the results in an LCA. LCA as a tool. EPS (Environmental Protection System). Tools and procedures to accomplish environmentally designed products. The designers part in environmental adaption of products.
