Aim:
To give mechanical engineering students an overview of sensors, measurements systems and associated problems that might show up in an industrial environment.

Prerequisites:
Former courses in physics, electronics, mechanics and programming.

Supplementary courses:
TFMÄ 14 Industrial measurements

Course organization:
Lectures and experimental work.

Course content:
Analogue versus digital measurements. Principles for sensors of measuring quantities of industrial interest: temperature, flow, pressure, level, motion, force, torque, strain,... Amplifiers and handling of signals from sensors. Computerised measurement systems, GPIB, LabVIEW.
