Aim:
To give knowledge about properties and performance of hard- and software of a computerised measurement system and basic ability to handle a commercial system (LabVIEW) for measuring and treating data.

Prerequisites:
Earalier courses in electronics, physics and datatechnology.

Supplementary courses:
TFMÄ 05 Sensor technology. TFMÄ 12 Measurement systems design.

Course organization:
Lectures and laboratory experiments.

Course content:
Different concepts for designing computerised measurement systems. Adapting sensors and instruments to computers. Simple and advanced hardware (DAP-cards and buses) for data acquisition. Program tools for measuring and analysis, especially LabView. About signal analysis for treating and presenting av large number of data in a clear way. Overview of measuring concepts of tomorrow where the computer is the centre to which all measuring tools are connected. Presentation of current and coming connecting techniques between surrounding and computer: serial and paralell, GPIB, SCSI, USB, Ethernet (Intenet) etc.
