Aim: The course is intended to teach the students how to use statistical theory and to analyse and interpret data from random experiments.Prerequisites: Calculus, matrix algebra and a first course in probability theory.Supplementary courses: TAMS70 Statistics, Second Course TAMS50 Applied Probability Models TSEA69 Image Processing TSIT64 Signal Theory TSRT35 Control Theory TMQU17 Total Quality ControlCourse organization: Teaching is performed in groups and consists of lessons dealing with theory and exercises. Obligatory computer exercises are included in the course.Course content: Point estimation according to the methods of moments, maximum likelihood and least squares. Chi-square, t- and F-distributions. Confidence intervals. Hypothesis testing. Chi-square tests. Random vectors. Multivariate normal distribution. Multiple linear regression.
