NFYD71 | New Materials, 75 ECTS-points /NYA MATERIAL/ Advancement level: D
Aim: The main aim of this course is to provide general information about the research frontiers in the world and an introduction to successful research activities going on at our department within the material physics area. The topics to be covered represent research projects on materials, which are considered to have a great technological potential, but the projects are still in an "early strategic phase", with focus on, the manufacturing, characterization and development of the new materials.Prerequisites: Attended NFYD76 Material Science and NFYD78 Semiconductor PhysicsCourse organization: The course will be given in seminar form, in which researchers will give lectures on their research activities. The course can be given wholly or partially in English. Course content: Some examples of research areas to be presented - Semiconductors with a large bandgap (nitrider, SiC, ZnSeS etc) - Low dimensional structures (quantum wells, quantum wires, quantum boxes etc) - Superlattice structures - New compounds e.g. CN ("rubber diamond"), C60 (fullerenes) etc Course literature: Literature, mainly research reports, will be distributed at the seminars
TEN1 | A detailed study of one selected research project to be presented in oral or written version. Hand-in exercises, oral presentations and written reports during the course. |
