Aim:
The course introduces the student to the field of machine design, where drawing technique, CAD and machine elements are core disciplines. After the course, the students are expected to be able to:
- perform basic technical drawings.
- perform basic modelling tasks using an advanced CAD system.
- show basic knowledge about, and ability to perform basic analyse of common machine elements.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Engineering mechanics and Strength of materials.
Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course is taught in lectures, lessons and laboratory exercises.
The course is offeredd twice during 2017; Vt1 and Vt2.

Course contents:
The foundations of engineering drawing. Introduction to computer-based drawing- and design-tools. Introduction to Machine elements, bolted joints, springs, fluid-film bearings, rolling element bearings and spur gear transmissions, etc.
