Aim:
This course aims to provide knowledge about magazine publishing and marketing as well as practical skills in magazine design. On conclusion, the students shall:
  • be able to describe the production processes and techniques of contemporary magazines
  • be able to create and deliver fully satisfactory print originals for magazine printing
  • be able to apply theoretical knowledge in production of magazines
  • be able to apply theoretical knowledge in practical design of magazines
  • be able to assess and evaluate production quality, content and design in magazines


  • Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
    Introduction to graphic art and process, Graphical Design Project 1, Digital Image Editing

    Organisation:
    The course consists of lectures, studio work, seminars and hand-in assignments. Study visits may also be made.

    The course covers:
  • technology and conditions in the magazine market
  • contents and techniques in magazine production
  • magazine design
  • printing and postpress of magazines
