Aim:
After having completed the course, the students will have the ability to communicate verbally in German and actively take part in discussions and will be able to read and understand relevant texts of different types. The students will have a good command of general words and phrases with a concentration on technical and economic terminology as well as have a good fundamental knowledge of Germany today.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
A-levels / pass �?" level 3

Organisation:
The lectures are mainly held in seminar format and are based on the students actively taking part in discussions and oral reports as well as doing grammar exercises.
The course runs over the entire semester.


Course contents:
The course is given mainly in German with the following elements:
  • Oral presentations
  • Readings of and discussions around newspapers and magazine texts
  • Translations
  • An overview of German society and business.
