Aim:
The course will give the student knowledge on strategies and tools for effective corporate environmental management. Of special interest is commercialization of environmental work. After successful complementation of the course the student should be able to:
- Explain the design of different tools for corporate environmental management.
- Explain different drivers for corporate environmental management such as legislation and stakeholder interests.
- Analyze environmental strategies of an existing company.
- Discuss the relations between corporate environmental management and competitiveness.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Two years of engineering studies. General knowledge concerning industry and environmental issues is advantageous.

Life Cycle Assessment and Ecodesign, Environmental Impact Assessment, Industrial Ecology, Environmental Science, Technical Systems and Environment, Enviromental Sytems Analysis - Project Course.

Organisation:
The course consists of two parts. Theories within corporate environmental management are presented at lectures. These theories are used in a group assignment with the aim to analyze environmental strategies of an existing company. The group assignment is presented in a written report and an oral presentation. Compulsory supervision seminars are used to support the group assignment.

Subjects included are: Basic environmental science. Corporate environmental and sustainability management. Environmental management systems. Instruments for environmental management. Basic environmental economics.
