Aim:
After completing the course the student should be able to plan, solve and evaluate measuring tasks in construction. This means that the student can:
  • Describe and apply common geodetic reference systems and geodetic concepts.
  • Calibrate and use common geodetic instruments.
  • Use the common methods for setting out and surveying.
  • Check and evaluate the correctness of the measurements.
  • Plan, solve and evaluate common measuring tasks.


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)

Organisation:
The teaching consists of lectures and a small project.

Course contents:
Geodetic systems and classes. Principles and handling of geodetic instruments for distance measurements, levelling and angle measurements. Methods for mapping and setting out points. Accuracy and precision of measurements. A project including mapping of an area and setting out of buildings.
