Aim:
After the course the students shall be able to:
- explain consequences of ergonomics in products and industrial production
- analyse and assess the role of ergonomics by discussing and evaluating various products and production development issues
- apply qualitative and quantitative methods to gain knowledge of user needs and conditions
- develop product concepts based on ergonomics theories and principles

Organisation:
The course consists of lectures and hand-in assignments. The lectures deals with the theoretical themes. The hand-in assignments are carried out in groups, in which the students with teacher supervision evaluate existing products and workplaces from an ergonimics perspective (including measurement of physical factors). Furthermore, there is a product work in which the students with teacher supervision design a proposal for a new product concept. Study visit at a company focussing on ergonimics design and that also will comment on the students' suggested product concepts.

Course contents:
The role of ergonomics in products and product development. User profiles and task analyses. Qualitative and quantitative methods. The product and its context. Basic ergonomics (psychosocial work environment, work organisation, physical workload, physical factors, chemical health riskt, human-machine systems, safety - risk, laws).
