Aim:
The course aim is to give further experience of Project work, applied to air traffic and logistics. The course is meant to integrate knowledge from the first Three semesters of the program, with the knowledge aquired during initial training.
After the course the student should be able to:
  • formulate a demand specification from a project directive and update the demand specification according to the evolvement of the project
  • find and aquire specific knowledge depending on the specific project contents
  • in the report, relate the work to existing literature and knowledge in the area
  • in the report, describe the scientific method chosen for the project
  • within the project area, acquire deep knowledge in some area of logistics
  • do a project according to a project model
  • plan a project by documentint the plan in a project- & time plan and also follow up and modify the project- & time plans
  • present the project result in a written report and an oral presentation
  • reflect over the work performed, and suggest improvements
  • make an opposition of another groups work
A further goal for the course is to develop the creativity and suggest solutions to problems related to logistics, and contribute to a well functioning project group. The projects are carried out realistically, in order to practice for thesis work & the professional career. This means that the project assignmets come directly from, or are inspired by real problems. The students are encourage to find or imagine projects by themselves.


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Basic knowledge in Project work according to a Project model (such as LIPS), basic logistics Courses, some basic modelling course, basic ATC training (Initial Training)

Note: Admission requirements for non-programme students usually also include admission requirements for the programme and threshhold requirements for progression within the programme, or corresponding.

Organisation:
The course is taught at Sturup.
The main part of the course consists of carrying out the Project work, and is not scheduled. A few occassions are used to introduce the Project work, including knowledge about the LIPS-model, and to present the final results of the projcect. Inbetween, supervision and help will be given to the Project Groups, mainly online from Norrköping.


Course contents:
The common parts of the course are
  • Lectures on the LIPS-model
  • How to write a demand specification
  • Project- and time plan according to LIPS level 2
  • How to make an opposition
  • How to find and build a theoretical framework
  • How to describe the chosen methodology
  • How to discuss aspects as environment, ethics and social benefit in relation to the chosen method
The remaining parts of the course depends on the specific projekct
