Aim:
The aim of this theme is that the student shall
  • reflect upon and the relation between man and technology at a work place structure and present information according to given conditions.
As parts of this the student has to
  • describe different theories for how to produce knowledge
  • reflect upon different choices of methods and from this apply an explorative way of working on their own fieldwork.


Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)

Organisation:
Lectures, seminars with exercises in oral presentation, fieldwork (interviews, observations), at businesses, and group tuition in connection with the fieldwork.

Course contents:
1. In the theme, various aspects of interaction between people and between people and technology in working life are focused. For example:
  • recurring patterns in specific communication situations
  • the users´ views on and conceptions of the use of technology
  • the engineer´s view of technology, technology users and his/her own role in the interaction with the surrounding world.
This theme can vary somewhat in content for different students, depending on the questions raised in their individual fieldwork.

2. Training in oral presentation and how to write a report.

Attendance requirements: seminars - 4 examing, tutorials – 80%. Grades are given as ‘Fail’ or ‘Pass’.
