Aim:
The course gives an overview of the history and culture of Northeast Asia which is the necessary basic knowledge for a better understanding of modern Northeast Asia.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)
Admittance requirements for Asia Studies 60 credits

Lectures and seminars

Course contents:
The main elements of the course concern China�?Ts, Japan�?Ts and Korea�?Ts political, economic and social history up until modern times. In addition, other areas studied are the history of religion and ideas. The course also gives an introduction to the countries�?T literature, art and popular-culture.
