Aim:
The aim of the course is to give the student a basic knowledge of the techniques employed in restoring musical instruments. On completion of the course the student will be able to carry out advanced restoration work without assistance and produce accompanying documentation.

Prerequisites: (valid for students admitted to programmes within which the course is offered)

Organisation:
Classes, laboratory work and practical assignments

Course contents:
Basic documentation techniques. Work planning, including time calculation and methods of repair. A study of the different parts of the instrument and design problems. Materials theory with regard to the materials historically used for making plucked instruments.
