Aim:
The course aims to give knowledge about biology and to introduce some biological workmethods. A completed course is equal to Biology 2
When the course is completed the student should be able to
  • describe biomolecules in cells, cell-communication, transport over cell-membranes, and metabolism of cells
  • make microscopic slides with plant- and animalcells and study them with a light microscope
  • exemplify and discuss areas uf use for techniques in cell- and microbiology
  • discribe structure and function of organs and organsystems mainly in humans.
  • show basic knowledge about the human immunesystem and how it responds to infection, visa grundläggande kunskap om immunsystemets funktion hos människan, mikroorganisms and their roll in infection and health. Virus and their reproduction
  • exemplify and discuss basic facts about menstruation, falling in love, sex and pregnancy. How to prevent sexually transmitted diseases to spread and how to prevent pregnancy.
  • describe and discuss basic knowledge about plantphysiology and fungus.
  • formulate questions and answers in biology within timefames and discuss them at a groupseminar
  • discuss the importance of experimental work to test, reevaluate and revise hypotheses, theories and models beskriva det experimentella arbetets betydelse för att testa, omvärdera och revidera hypoteser, teorier och modeller
