Aim:
To give the student the possibility to, under guidance, carry out qualified restoration- conservation tasks on vereered alternatively painted furniture.
After completing the course the student should be able to:
- diagnose, plan, carry out and document in the profession commonly occuring working tasks
- evaluate materials used in treatment actions from a scientific perspective (ageing properties)
- evaluate and analyse treatment actions and their consequences regarding information and documentary values of the treated item
- carry out different types of qualified restoration and consolidation treatments
After completing the course the student should have gained insights in:
- the importance of examination, analysis and documentation of all relevant aspects of the treated objects
- his/her knowledge and skills, his/her strengths or weaknesses, ability to work in complex situations and own need of further education

Organisation:
The course takes place in a workshop environment. The project should, with the support of individual guidance, be carried out independently.
|

Course contents:
The project is individually choosen with consideration taken to requests about possible specialization. Course details are planned by examinator in consultation with the student. Occuring problems are illuminated on the basis of general aspects as well as variations related to origin, age, history, composition of material and contruction of the treated item. Proposed treatment actions are discussed both in relation to ethical aspects as functional and estetic considerations.
