Programme Organisation
The programme consists of 1,5 year (3 semesters) of course work and a Master's Thesis (0,5 years), and starts in August/September each year. The first 1,5 year is dedicated to a set of mandatory courses, and optional. These courses are part of the ordinary syllabus for final year students majoring in computer science and engineering and electrical engineering. After completing courses corresponding to 90 ECTS credits, the candidates proceed with their Masters' Thesis work corresponding to 30 ECTS credits
Programme Contents
The programme is based on fundamental mathematical, theoretical, and technical knowledge acquired by the student during his/her basic undergraduate education at Bachelor's level. The SoC master program provides education, both theoretical and applied, in the areas of digital and analog electronics, digital design, VLSI systems, and embedded software. A number of obligatory courses will provide the student with the broad view and understanding needed in order to master the area. At the same time, a proper selection of optional courses allows specializing in a particular direction, such as analog/RF design, digital design, or embedded systems. Communication skills, presentation techniques (both oral and written), as well as team work, are emphasized during the whole program. There are certain possibilities for students to exchange courses (for example if a student in previous studies has read a course that corresponds to a course within the program) or add courses after consulting the programme director, and decision in the Board of Studies. .
