Aim:
After completing this course the student is able:
- describe and explain basic concepts and principles of Lean Production
- apply several Lean tools and techniques to eliminate waste in the system
- analyze, evaluate, develop and propose solutions for how organisations can achieve more efficient processes using Lean
- have a knowledge of how to implement Lean in different organizations and realize the factors that are important for success

Organisation:
This course provides knowledge on philosophies, principles, methods and tools for lean production. The teaching will be performed in form of lectures, seminars, labs and related exercises and group work. The course contents are strongly connected to industrial operations, and some course content is treated through site visits where Lean methods and techniques can be trained.

Course contents:
5 basic principles of Lean production, waste according Lean philosophy, value stream mapping, Lean-game, 5S, visual management, Pull system, Heijunka, SMED, Poka Yoke, standardized work and improvement strategies (i.e. Kaizen)

Jeffrey K. Liker: â?oThe Toyota Way" and some articles related to the subject
